Charitable Giving

Dedicated to Serving our Community

Charitable giving is an important value at Ventas. We believe that, as an industry leader, we have a responsibility to improve the lives of others. Through the influential Ventas Charitable Foundation, we contribute to local and national organizations that are important to our employees, customers and communities, including the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Older Adult Program, Chicago Cares, High Jump, ElderServe, All Stars Project of Chicago, After School Matters, Women's Sports Foundation, and many more.

Ending Hunger and Improving the Lives of Seniors

Ventas partners with organizations that are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of seniors.

Greater Chicago Food Depository

In 2015, Ventas entered into a $1 million, five-year partnership with The Greater Chicago Food Depository to sponsor its Older Adult Program. Through this long-term commitment, Ventas hopes to have a meaningful impact in ending hunger among older adults.

“No one should go hungry in our community. But too often, older adults do not have access to the food they need to stay healthy.” Said Kate Maehr, Executive Director and CEO of the Food Depository. “Ventas’s generous support will bolster our response to hunger among older adults throughout Cook County.”

Alzheimer’s Association

Ventas joined the Alzheimer’s Association in their quest to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, which affects many individuals who receive care and live in the Company’s properties. Ventas’s CEO, Debra Cafaro, was honored at the 2015 Brain Ball and together raised more than $1.5 million for the Alzheimer's Association.

“This honor signifies my chance to stand with all of you, and to salute your mission to fight a cruel disease that robs us of so much we hold dear,” Ms. Cafaro told the audience at the Brain Ball.

ElderServe

Ventas has also made a multiyear commitment to partner with ElderServe. ElderServe provides a wide-range of supportive services that empower older adults to live independently with dignity.

Employee Initiated Giving

We encourage our employees to give back to their communities, and many of our team members are deeply involved in local and national organizations. Ventas applauds their dedication and passion, and each year allocates a portion of the annual Ventas Charitable Foundation donations to support their efforts. Examples of grants made at the request of our employees include the Misericordia Heart of Mercy, PAWS, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Girls on the Run Louisville, Hesed House, Ladies of Virtue, National Runaway Safeline, and many more.
